  Booked a large SVU for a week, knowing we had quite a bit of luggage with us (and a 4mth old baby). Booked well in advance, even confirmed the reservation days before. Arrived at this location to be informed that they had no large cars available and they downgraded us to something which was not able to fit all our luggage. The customer service team did not sufficiently help with the situation they had put us in, on the eve of a peak weekend in Canberra (Anzac Day). I would avoid booking Europcar Canberra and choose one of the many other providers.

  I signed up to Google just to write this review. We joined a LONG line of people hoping to pick up pre-booked hire cars on a Friday morning before the October long weekend, a few like us with children. About 15 people waiting and only one staff member actively serving (another staff member sitting in booth appeared to spend their time vacantly staring into space despite the huge queue). No signage or apology explaining the long wait. Other car rental booths in immediate vicinity had two or three staff actively serving during a clearly expected busy period and cleared their waiting customers quickly. After waiting more than 30 mins with only one person served out of 15 (and a agitated child in tow) we went to the now empty AVIS line and picked up a car immediately with no booking and at a comparative rate. Cancelled booking with Europcar on the spot via note in case someone else was prepared to wait hours to pick up a hire car. Reported issue to Europcar via web and got the standard "we'll look into staffing into the future" response. Europcar Canberra came across as badly organised and understaffed compared to other hire car companies right next door. My advice, hire a car with anyone else at Canberra Airport.
